Meet: Robin Coventry of
Kent County Tourism

Success can be defined in many ways. How do you define success?
Looking back knowing you have made the lives of others better. Doing the best you can in all you do whether you are recognized by your peers or not. Helping others and giving people a good time is my jazz!

If you could have a conversation with a particular individual, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Mabel Lloyd Ridgely (1872-1962)Suffragist, President of the Delaware Equal Suffrage Association. (Changed to League of Women Voters- she was first president) She was known for her efforts involving historic preservation in Delaware's Capital of the Old State House and John Dickinson Plantation. She was also the founder of Old Dover Days Festival an event that I am now chairperson. Mabel was a woman of spirit and determination and would be very interesting to converse with over tea.

Tell us about your favorite book or author.
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It is a well written book about people who make a difference and are not lured by the masses to conform.

What is something readers of NEWS4Women would be surprised to learn about you?
That I raised three children by myself to adulthood.

Confess a guilty pleasure- come on, we all have them!
I love a good bottle of red wine from Bordeaux, France. Purrrrrr.

If you were given $10,000 to make a difference in your community how would you spend it?
I would partner with other non-profits to create an event that would benefit many. Example- Our Give a Child a Bike Campaign we gathered bikes from individuals that no longer used them and give them to Boys and Girls Clubs in Kent County. We worked with the Dover Inner Faith Mission for Housing who repaired all the damaged bikes and made them rideable. Joining together with others to create success that all share in is beautiful!
